China Symantec Security Response Center will provide monitor around the clock--monitoring the threat and security event and thrawing the malicious codes in China. The newly set up center in China is followed by the centers in Ireland,USA and Japan.

On May 18,Norton anti-virus software incorrectly identified two files contained in Windows XP operating system as threats and deleted them, resulted in millions of computers to crash, and caused many Chinese users affected.

Is the center's setting up a casual decision aimed at the  malfunction?

Vincent Weafer, senior director of Symantec Security Response Center explained that the center's setting up is not a short term action, which has been prepaired for a year. The center will focus on product quality and test, not just to deal with such malfunctions.

When asked about the compensation caused by Norton malfunction,Weafer said regretly,"The work for us currently is to help our customers recover their operating system and business, and after that we can have time to consider other things (compensation)."
